Our Story

Hi, I’m San, and this is my wife Molly, we’re from Suzhou, China (Suzhou is a city about an hour outside of Shanghai), we’re the creators of Colorlinen. Colorlinen originally started out as ZhanFang (bloom) and had humble beginnings starting in this very bedroom in Suzhou. I was working a day job when Molly first began to start blogging. She wrote blogs about her favorite things; what CDs she liked, her favorite books, clothes and her day-to-day life. People fell in love with her style, clothing and her passion. Soon after people couldn’t stop asking about these colorful linen pieces she was wearing and decided to open a shop online. Molly just wanted to bring happiness to people through her love of linen, people, and passion for life, 10 years later she hasn’t stopped.
I was working as a director at a travel channel before I decided to quit my job to help Molly run the shop. The success online was incredible, and we moved into a retail space in central Suzhou. ZhanFang means ‘to bloom’, we wanted people to be able to express themselves in clothing that is natural, comfortable and colorful, linen was to be the canvas for this expression. Linen is more than clothing to us, it represents a lifestyle, a lifestyle going back to a raw, free, and natural expression of life. Colorlinen is a manifistation of this expression in clothing. Colorlinen represents this passion, energy and freedom in an individual, we want for everyone to strive towards their dreams, visions and achieve true happiness in life.
Our little shop in that Suzhou bedroom grew faster then we ever imagined. People all across China fell in love with ZhanFang and what we represented. In a world of fast fashion filled with form fitting, neutral colored and flashy clothing, we have gotten people to fall in love with comfortable, colorful, all-natural linen pieces. People resonated with our message of pushing yourself to be the best version of you and finding your own happiness in life outside societal pressures and constraints. In 2010 we were honred as the best "word-of-mouth" shop on e-commerce giant Taobao.com. 
Our followers kept growing as Colorlinen grew. We created our own community with regular meet ups, events and groups in over 65 cities across China. Women over China were getting together with us and sharing ideas, passions and pushing each other to better their lives. We bring our community of women together and travel the world. We encourage each other to push our boundaries, not define our limits and be the best versions of you.
To define Colorlinen would be to define us. Molly & I are so happy because of we do what we love. The tranquillity and peace that I have acheived working with the person I love can't be explained. The 'Color' in Colorlinen represents the passion, freedom, and expression in every individual, while 'Linen' represents the physical, raw and natural expression of life. This is Colorlinen, Molly, Me, you, and our community. We want you to be a part of our community as we strive for our passions and dreams in life. I acheived happiness through Colorlinen, we want you to do the same with your dreams.
